I played premier league cricket with Phil in Essex. He was Club Captain and very much the driving force of the club’s success at that time. He was and still is an innovator, strategic and focused, a passionate and committed leader and team player. I wish him the very best as he applies his business expertise, his professionalism and wisdom from high level martial arts and sports to his new coaching consultancy.
Richard Pybus He is a world leading cricket coach and former coach of the Pakistan and Bangladesh national cricket teams, he was consultant coach to Pakistan during the 1999 Cricket World Cup when they progressed to the final. Passion, empathy and non-judgement are three words to describe this incredible man who supported me through an extremely difficult time.
During challenging times in your life it teaches you some tough lessons and gives you an insight into people who will help you through them and people that won’t.
The only way I can describe where I was in my life was in a hole; I was falling deeper and deeper into this hole until I met with Phil. This man changed my life and that’s no small thing for someone to say.
My hole; I had recently separated from my wife. I have two amazing young children. It was the hardest thing I had ever done or been through. I had tried to ignore the emotions I had been experiencing and move on but the worry and fear inside kept pulling me further down.
One of the most powerful insights Phil gave me was the first thing he said to me in our first session “It’s ok” two such small words but so powerful.
I used to overthink a great deal before I met with Phil. I understood why people have anxiety and fear of a situation. We overthink to different levels depending how we control our inside.
A personal example is when I start thinking of what people thought of me. I tended to allow my overthinking to control my emotions, actions and my balance. Phil has taught me to recognise overthinking when its occurring and deal with it before it has a negative affect on me. As with any self-improvement you have to work at it, and I did just that. Little by little I improved and with Phil’s help and guidance I’m now able to control these feelings.
I believe in life things happen for a reason and there are events that have happened to me that show this to be true. Phil came into my life at the point I needed him most and stayed for as long as it took. I can never thank him enough for his support.
Phil’s passion for life is incomparable and second to none, my meetings with him has given me my energy for life back again. I am more motivated in all areas of my life now especially my work and family. After our sessions I have a burst of energy and motivation to succeed.
When someone helps you in the way Phil has helped me you would do anything to repay him.
Being present and in the moment with someone who is giving you their full attention and engaging in a conversation about you and your subjects was a unique experience for me.
I have now come to understand that life is a journey and there is no set destination for anyone and no correct way of getting there. We will all experience rough and plain sailing times, the highs and the lows, the expected and the unexpected; the insights Phil has helped me to find have opened my mind to enjoying the journey and the moments within it. I really do feel that you can’t change the past; you don’t know what will happen tomorrow so live today.
Thank you Phil

I have known Phil for over 17 years both as a friend and a fellow Karate Instructor. Recently I have been suffering a very stressful time and Phil was here for me and helped me deal with a major upset in my life. His understanding of pain and grief is amazing and our daily talks were invaluable to me. His ‘people skills’ are second to none and his ability to connect with individuals is outstanding.
As a Karate Instructor he is very talented and here again the ability to make the special connection between himself and the students is quite exceptional. Any task he is given, he undertakes whole-heartedly and with great determination and does not stop until it is completed. In all the seventeen years we have been friends and colleagues he has always been ready to discuss and understand the every day problems that one experiences going through life. Everyone should have a friend like Phil Toogood.

I have known Phil Toogood, both personally and professionally, for more than 30 years.  You cannot separate the two, because everything that he does, he does with the same level of dedication, enthusiasm and passion.
If he accepts a project or a challenge, in my experience, he will devote all the energy necessary to make a success of it.
Some may think this an old fashioned approach, but if it gets the job done, then so be it. One of the things that has struck me over the years, Phil has always made me feel that I’m his most important customer/client/confidant and that’s a terrifically important trait to carry forward into any business. His cool approach to problem solving will hold him in good stead in a new business venture, so much so, that everyone can have every confidence in working with Phil Toogood.

It is rare that you come across standout talent like Phil. I had the pleasure of working with Phil when I was in the MOD where his company designed and developed some very innovative personal protection equipment that was brought into service rapidly under an Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) – Phil’s solution to this UOR was groundbreaking and has changed the way our Forces were equipped. I was particularly impressed by Phil’s dogged determination and drive to meet his clients’ needs. He is a man of passion with an abundance of integrity. I am proud to have him as a friend – he comes with my heartfelt recommendation.
