What is stress?

Firstly, I always say, stress is a mere word, and its significance lies in our interpretation. In brief, it’s a physiological and psychological response to a perceived threat. It’s the body’s way of responding to challenging circumstances by releasing stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline to prepare the body for a ‘fight or flight’ response. Whilst this is a natural response, chronic stress or overwhelming number of stressors can have dramatic effects on our physical and mental wellbeing.

How can I reduce stress?

Reducing stress is down to pinpointing the root cause and then ascertaining why it translates into stress. Remember it’s our response and processing of outside events that generates stress. There are many coping and lifestyle strategies that can help reduce stress such as…
