INTERNATIONAL CRICKET COACH
In the summer of 2019 as Head Coach for West Indies National Cricket team Richard led them to winning the Wisden Trophy beating England in both the test series and ODI series. Richard is a coach that is widely respected internationally for exceptional achievement. He is former coach of the Pakistan and Bangladesh national cricket teams, taking Pakistan to the 1999 Cricket World Cup final. He is currently the most successful coach in South African first-class cricket having guided the Titans and the Cape Cobras to nine championship titles over six seasons, winning the Supersport Series Four Day Competition four times. He has completed the domestic double three times in a row as a
coach, twice with the Titans and once with the Cape Cobras. He was awarded the South African Cricket Coach of the year in 2008, and 2010, by Cricket South Africa.
His consulting firm Optimal Performance applies the lessons of success from professional sport to developing elite performance for individuals and teams. Applying proven strategies across fields of human performance, working with clients such as First National Bank (South Africa), Eskimo (South Africa), Cricket South Africa, Cricket West Indies, Bangladesh Cricket Board, Pakistan Cricket Board to achieve their strategic goals.
